Three Tablets Compared

Until recently, if you were looking for a tablet solution the iPad was hard to beat. Recently, the market has started to diversify. Here’s three alternatives to consider:

Kindle Fire

Amazon’s attempt at shaking up the tablet game. The Kindle fire is a 7 inch tablet with a proprietary Android operating system. It’s pretty clear from demonstrations that Amazon is banking on users purchasing and using media from their cloud service as The Fire only has 16GB on onboard data space and no available slots for expansion. That being said, the pre-orders have been encouraging showing that there’s room for tablets at the $200 price point.

HTC Flyer

At 7 inches The HTC Flyer finds itself somewhere between a full size slate and a smart-phone. The biggest upside to this tablet is the weight and size make it super portable. Additionally, it you have ever struggled typing in Android-based smart-phone the extra size you get from this tablet will eliminate those concerns.

ASUS EEPAD Transformer Prime

ASUS offers the first tablet with a quad core processor. The Transformer Prime also has some pretty nice specs in addition to the speedy chip-set. It has 1GB of onboard (with plenty of expansion spots for additional data) and will start shipping with Android’s newest version Ice Cream Sandwich. The Transformer Prime, also offers a detachable keyboard for an additional $149.

Are you using a tablet? If so, tell us which one below!

Thanks,

Colin
