Mac for PC Switchers: Super Hot Keys to know on your Mac!!!
Hey all!
When switching from PC to Mac there are some hot key combinations that will make your user experience WAY easier. Below is not a list of all keys that you may need to use, but I’m going to give you my TOP TEN!!!
10: Command + Shift + Backspace (delete) = Empty the TRASH (a.k.a. “Recycling Bin” in Windows-speak)!
9: Command + Option + Backspace (delete) = Throw it in the TRASH (a.k.a. “Recycling Bin” in Windows-speak)!
8: Command + D – When in Finder Window, this key combo will navigate you straight to your Desktop Folder. This works for saving documents in 3rd party apps as well!
7: Command + Option + Eject – SLEEP NOW! Tell you computer to go to sleep…
6: F4 – Brings up Dashboard. This is your “Translucent” app that allows you to utilize widgets.
5: Command + Space Bar – Opens Spotlight so you can instantly search for just about ANYTHING on your computer
4: Command + Option + Esc – FORCE QUIT!!! Force Quit allows you to terminate any application that may be “hung”, or just annoying you.
3: Command + ANYTHING! - Command key REPLACES most functions of the control key on a Windows machine (i.e. Command+ P = PRINT etc…)
2: Shift + Command + 4 - Draw an outline area and take a screenshot to the desktop as a png file.
1: Command + Tab – Shows all running applications and allows you to pull one to the front.
So that’s MY top ten, but you can check out all of them and make your OWN top ten.
