HP Brings Back The $99 Touchpad One Last Time
When HP sold off the last of it’s tablet The Touchpad this fall, the demand was so great that the company announced that they may have a few lying around for sale at a later date.
The details of that second sale have surfaced just in time for Holiday shoppers who want to jump into the tablet market at HP’s low price point.
The $99 tablet will be available again this Sunday Dec 11, 2011 only on HP’s ebay store and shoppers must use Paypal for the purchase. Orders are limited to 2 tablets per order and they are for refurbished models of the 16 GB tablet. Additionally, a 32GB version of the refurbished Touchpad is available through the same store, with an accessories bundle compatible with both tablets available for $79. Other restrictions include a limited 90 day warranty from HP and a preloaded operating system in iOS, which Hp has reportedly, given up on
.
So where’s the good news in this?
For those daring enough, The Touchpad can be updated to an Android OS with relatively few steps and will allow users to test the tablet market without the $500 price tag of the ipad or the restrictions of The Amazon Kindle and Nook tablet.
Furthermore, the tablet was designed to work with third party app and email clients giving it further advantage over the lower priced competitors which all run proprietary versions of Android and web browsing apps.
