5 must haves for closing sales online
Do you have an e-commerce site? If so, how confident are you that it is working as hard as it should be to market and effectively sell your product or service? If you are like many other companies out there, the answer is most likely “Not that sure.” Read on to find out how to turn that response into a “Very sure.”
1. Content – As years go on, consumers become both more picky and more informed. That said, it is a known fact that people trust other consumers much more than they trust your company. How can you use this to your advantage? Use quotes and testimonies from current clients on your site. Giving prospects the opportunity of seeing what other people are saying about your business can be worth more than five sales meetings.
2. Ease of use – Have you ever visited a website looking for very specific information, yet had to spend 10 minutes searching for that info? It’s frustrating, and can actually end up costing you a sale. Make your website as user friendly as possible. Bucket information into categories that make sense to an outsider, and evaluate it regularly to ensure its constant functionality. If they can’t find what they are looking for, they can’t buy it.
3.Visibility – They can’t buy from you if they can’t find you. These days having a website is simply not enough — practically everyone has a website. Make sure to go the extra mile with your site. Make sure you’re keeping your content fresh with regular updates, and new products/services. Also, hiring a specialist to help optimize your SEO will spike your sales. Your website is not fully doing its job of promoting your company if it’s not being found by people looking to buy the types of things that you offer. Sometimes getting yourself seen can be half the sale.
4. Reply to questions – Make sure someone is monitoring your ‘contact us’ email box daily. If not, you could lose business. I.e., someone who is looking to make a quick purchase might turn elsewhere simply because you delayed providing them with a quick and simple answer that was necessary before they moved forward with their last minute purchase.
5. Follow up – After the sale, don’t lose track of this person! Once they have bought from you, chances are they will buy again. Keep in contact with this person. Send them your newsletter. Send them special offers and holiday greetings. Getting repeat business is both easier and much more cost effective than heading out to find brand new customers.
