Windows 7 Snipping Tool

In the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system, Windows 7, there is a nifty new tool to help capture screen shots and portions of screenshots to save and send.  It is called the Snipping Tool, and here is how you can use it.

From the Windows button, search for “Snipping Tool” and it will appear under “Programs”.  When you open the tool, you will see the following:

From here you have several options.  In the “New” bar you will see several options.  The first one is “Free Form Snipping”.  This is like being a broadcaster during a football game, circling objects at will!

The next option is “Rectangular Snip” – Pretty straight forward.  Here is an example:

The next option is “Window Snip”.  This allows you to select a dialog box or window that you want to capture.  Here is an example…the very Screen that I am typing:

The final option is “Full Screen Snip” – which again is pretty straight forward – Here is an example of a full screen snip.  I use two monitors so in this case the full screen snip grabs both.

Will the new Snipping Tool help you?
