Tech Tip from The HR Lady – Cleaning your MAC with a “Magic Eraser”

I recently inherited a white MacBook from a friend, and let’s just say it was in less than ideal aesthetic condition.  At first sight of the fingerprint, dirt, and grime laden computer, I thought there was no way I could possibly rid it of the unsightly, probably germ infested dirt…..but on the other hand, you can’t really refuse a free MAC.

So, the quest to bring this MAC back began. My first stop in this quest was to the apple store to get a few of the broken keys replaced and although I was embarrassed to show them the horrific state of this computer (and even more embarrassed that they would assume this disaster was my doing), they mentioned that the “Mr. Clean Magic Eraser” would work wonders and make it look brand new.  Feeling very hopeful, my second stop was the grocery store to pick up a pack of the Magic Erasers for about $4.  Third stop, home, to get this restoration project started.  After about half an hour of scrubbing, I was in awe.  My computer looked brand new, and I have now entered the “cool” MAC world with a spiffy bright white computer that I am proud to have accompany me in any hip coffee shop that I choose to do my work or better yet, catch up on my facebooking.

Step By Step Tips:
1. Buy the Magic Erasers
2. Lightly dampen the Magic Eraser with water
3. Ring out all the excess water (very important, nothing should drip)
4. Turn off your computer
5. Scrub it clean

*Do NOT scrub the computer screen with the magic eraser
*This works on both the white and black MacBooks.
