How to add photos with hyperlinks in Outlook signature.

Ok, let’s talk about adding photos with links to your auto-signaure in Outlook.  Seems simple, and it is… mostly.  However, if not done carefully the photos could link to a source that could get you blocked as spam.  Here’s the quick and easy way to make sure your images and links are safe.  You cannot just cut and paste images in.  Here’s how to safely add images:

Let’s start by finding the images you want in your signature.  For example, let’s say you want a Facebook icon to link to your company page.  Find the icon online:

Next, save the photos locally on your C: drive or desktop (Right-click the image, Save As):

Now let’s get started with your signature.  Open Outlook,

Go to: Tools- Options- Mail Format Tab- and click on Singatures

(In Outlook 2010 you can click on the File menu then select “Options” from the menu)

Click on New and type a name for your signature:

Type in your text how you want your signature to appear.  Set defaults for when the auto-signature will be used.  Then when you’re ready to add the image, put the cursor where you want it and click on theInsert Picture icon.

When the insert picture dialog window opens select the saved image from your local folder and select Insert.  Please note-  if you need to resize the image you will need to do so and save before inserting into signature.

Now that the image is placed, highlight the image and click on the Add Hyperlink icon.

Type in the url of the link and click OK.

Click OK, test it by sending yourself an email and opening the link and you’re all set.

Thanks,

Alison
