Excel 2010 Tips

If you’re like me, you get a certain thrill every time you dominate yet another spreadsheet at work.  The sheer joy which a freshly dominated spreadsheet brings is only surpassed by the nervous anticipation of waking up early to run to the office and do it again.  It doesn’t get better that this folks.

Also if you are like me, most of your spreadsheet domination has taken place in the earlier versions of Excel.  Now faced with the 2010 version, you need to continue to hone your skills to stay on top of your game.  Here are some quick tips:

Get this Ribbon out of my face!

The ribbon has a lot of tools in it – but sometimes you just want to stare at pure cells – to do so, try this quick tip – simply double click “Home” on ribbon bar to hide it!

Love the Ribbon? – Customize it!

There are plenty of tools at your beck and call – choose the ones you want to help further your spreadsheet domination.  Click the File tab, select Options and choose Customize Ribbon to get here:

Re-Dominate a Spreadsheet from Yesteryear:

Do you ever have problems opening up Excel spreadsheets that you created in older versions of Excel?  Not anymore.  Where you used to see error messages, now you will see seamless integration.  Open a workbook from Word 95 or even earlier!  Hazaa!

Go to File, Options, Trust Center, click Trust Center Settings, then select File Block Settings, and remove the checkmarks from the older Office files that you want Office 2010 to open.
